Feijoada and Samba Dancing
Last weekend, Brody and I spent our Saturday at a restaurant/ bar called
Samba, in Vila Magdalena, known to be Sao Paulo's Bohemian and artsy district. We split feijoada with six of our friends. The feijoada was yummy, but the samba band and people watching was even better!

The Feijoada was served with ribs, sausage and farofa. |
|
Feijoada is prepared with black beans, salted pork, beef, and sausage. |
|
Brody added this hot sauce to his feijoada. He added way too much!
This sauce packs a punch! |

We went to an AMAZING italian food restaurant last week. I had pumpkin ravioli with basil and butter sauce(below), and my friends had different kinds of gnocchi and meat. I know we will return to the restaurant, and I will elaborate on what is in each dish! In the meantime, your mouth will water viewing the photos below!

I LOVE pao de queijo (cheese bread). It is THE perfect snack. The cheese does not just fill the center of the bread, it is baked throughout the entire roll. These looked so scrumptious this morning during brunch that I walked four blocks back to the same restaurant to pick them up for our afternoon snack!
This is a photo of my egg-white omelet with turkey and cheese that I ordered this morning.
Last night, we went to a restaurant right down the street from our hotel. There were four of us, so we decided to share this dish. The meat was served on a grill with a lit flame below. In fact, we had to ask the waiter to "turn off" the fire (which he did by simply throwing a rag over the flame!) because the wind was blowing the flame too close to our bodies. The beef and sausage were delicious, we had to cook the chicken a bit longer!

Pastel de Bacalhau: cod cakes |
|
Farofa: toasted yuca flour mixture
This is very popular and is served with most meat dishes, especially feijoada. |

Beautiful Bruschetta |

Another grill with meat. This time we had sausage, ribs, and pichania. |
