Campos do Jordao

Campos do Jordao

For Brody's 30th birthday, we celebrated by traveling by bus to a little German mountain-town three hours outside of Sao Paulo. From the cute gingerbread style inns to the Christmas lights lining the streets, we did not feel like we were in Brazil!

Campos do Jordao is known for it's chocolate, fondue and breweries! I hand-picked chocolates from this "chocoletaria".

We spotted horses grazing right outside of our bed and breakfast on our morning jog!
Brody sitting in front of the restaurant sign we ate at on Friday night.
This dog captured our attention as we walked through a dog show in the center of the city!

The colorful chairs and hanging plants added character to this  outdoor restaurant.

We passed this inn on our uphill walk back to our bed and breakfast.

This is our view from our  room.

We went to Baden Baden for lunch on Saturday and tried sausages with mustard sauce and three types of their beer.

We ordered a pig's knee with potatoes and sauerkraut.

Little lake filled with swan row boats.

Brody loved his lemon-honey tea in the afternoon.

We ate at So Quejo on Saturday night and enjoyed cheese and meat fondue. We tried 12 different types of sauces!

What a cute mountain man!

Brody's 30th Birthday Party

Happy 30th Birthday Brody!!!

Brody turned 30 on Friday and we celebrated with friends at a restaurant and bar called Tatu-Bola in Itaim Bibi (it means armadillo in Portuguese). The bar's ceiling is covered with wrist ribbons representing wishes of miracles from Bomfim Church in Salvador.

Frutas Vermelhas Caipiroksa served in a mason jar:
This caipiroksa has fresh blackberries and raspberries and strawberries.
Fried cheese
Sausage served in a ceramic pig

Lots of friends in Sao Paulo!
Girlies
Brody's card and pretty flowers that I bought on the street.
I baked him Oreo Stuffed Chocolate-Chip Cookies!
Since they don't sell chocolate chips here, I crushed up two chocolate bars.
Lots of friends from work!

World Cup

Belgium celebrating after a GOAL, right in front of our seats!
Hey! I'm back! We have lots of new and different experiences to share from the World Cup! We went to the Belgium vs. S. Korea game at the Sao Paulo Stadium.

Outside of the massive stadium in Sao Paulo.
Our seats were 4 rows from the ground, right by the corner flag.

View of the stadium from our seats.

Check out the photographer's cameras.

Then, we flew to Rio and watched the Brazil vs. Columbia game from FanFest on Copacabana Beach. Our friend, John Washington, who we met when we lived in Atlanta, came to visit with two of his friends, Joel and Dustin. Their trip to Sao Paulo and Rio was the kick-off of their South American Tour!
Cool Sandcastle on Copacabana Beach!

Waiters walked around the streets with pre-made caipirinhas. I have NEVER seen this in Brazil! Usually, you have to go to a restaurant.

You can see the crowded street behind us.

People watching!
Once US was out, we could sport the Brazilian colors!
